Hi, what are you looking for?

Willie Nelson explains why he’s still touring at age 90.

Despite having entertained crowds for over sixty years, Willie Nelson has no intention of slowing down.

Later this month, the legendary singer-songwriter will turn 90 years old. Yet, he keeps working just as hard as he always has, creating amazing songs and ensuring that his devoted fans have every opportunity to see him perform live.

Nelson will commemorate his approaching significant birthday while on tour. Nelson secured his first considerable recording contract with Liberty Records back in 1962. In a recent interview with AARP, the celebrity spoke about the possibility and said that while employment wasn’t essential for him, it was still beneficial.

Regardless of the type of show, he claimed that working benefited him.

“It’s a lot of fun since I’ll be there for two days and many of my close friends will be there to say hello and sing with me. I’m eager to experience it.”

There is a difference between performing live music on a multi-show tour and appearing in film or television roles or lending your voice to a project, even though the phenomenon of high-profile entertainers continuing to perform well past retirement isn’t anything wildly new. Examples include Dick Van Dyke (97), Michael Caine (89), and David Attenborough (96).

Yet Nelson still manages to schedule events and put on fantastic performances. Not bad for a man rapidly approaching the ninth decade of his life on Earth!

The singer told AARP that when his close friend Norman Lear reached 100 recently, she told him, “I’ve been telling everybody it’s just a number. Yes, it’s only a number,” he replied.

The Texas native artist added that he’s always willing to board the tour bus once more and visit new places.

Willie joked, “I retire after every tour.” “However, I’m always prepared to return. The bus is something I enjoy. On the bus, I have everything I require. I’ve never had to enter a hotel room. Not really that horrible.”

“Even though it might not be terrible, I find it amazing that Willie Nelson still has the stamina to perform in front of many people under pressure!”

“His voice, too? Assuming I live that long, I’ll be a very happy man if I sound half as well as he does at that age.”

Nelson has sung for so long that it’s impressive that he can still croon like he always could.

In a recent interview, he claimed, “I think singing is good for my voice.”

“I no longer do many actions that could hurt it. You lose it if you don’t use it.”

For my part, I’d like to wish Willie Nelson a very happy 90th birthday and many more.
