Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz has accused Nathan Fielder of leaving out key facts about Elizabeth Holmes in order to make a better film. Speaking on Meghan McCain’s “Citizen McCain” show, Shultz said Fielder’s documentary “You Can See Everything” deliberately skipped over Holmes’s history of deception.
The film follows Holmes in the weeks before she began her prison sentence for defrauding investors in Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded. In it, Fielder asks Holmes directly whether she has ever told a lie, even a small fib. She tells him she does not believe she has.

Shultz argued that a fuller examination of the facts would have settled the film’s central question quickly. “There are so many instances of her just blatantly lying where it would just kind ruin the film,” he said. “So to make an interesting film, they chose to ignore the truth.” He added: “It would not have been an interesting film if he just took her to the slaughterhouse, which would have been easy to do.”
McCain said she felt Holmes came across as more sympathetic than she was comfortable with, pointing to the film’s use of Holmes’s children and breastfeeding. Shultz said the documentary has put Holmes back in the public eye more than Hulu’s 2022 series “The Dropout” did, and he worried about the impression it leaves. “For a lot of people, this is the only interaction or experience that they will have with Elizabeth and the Theranos story, and it will be very easy for them to walk away having sympathy for her and thinking that maybe she’s wrongfully incarcerated, and that is not a good takeaway,” he said.
