Trump Stumps in Ohio as Obama Rallies Georgia Democrats in Midterm Closing Stretch

1 min read

President Donald Trump returned to Ohio on Wednesday for the third time in a month, while former President Barack Obama rallied Democrats in Georgia, as both parties entered the final days of the midterm campaign. The Associated Press reported the duelling appearances with less than a week to go before the November 3 elections.

Trump flew to Chillicothe, Ohio, as part of a closing run through states he won handily two years ago. He visited Mississippi on Monday and Texas on Tuesday, and planned further stops in South Carolina, Florida, Kansas and Iowa. Vice President JD Vance campaigned in North Carolina, where Republicans have grown pessimistic about holding a Senate seat.

Obama appeared in Georgia with former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is seeking to become the first Black woman elected governor in the United States, and Senator Jon Ossoff, who is running for re-election. In Ohio, the Republican ticket includes biotech executive Vivek Ramaswamy for governor and Senator Jon Husted, who hopes to serve out the remainder of Vance’s term.

The closing stretch finds Republicans on the defensive, according to the report, as voters confront record fuel prices, rising costs and an unpopular war in Iran.
