Sad news about the beloved actress Melissa Gilbert

Melissa Gilbert is grateful for everything.

The former Little House on the Prairie star, 56, thought back on everything she had to be thankful for this Thanksgiving one week after having her fourth spinal surgery.

Gilbert posted a video of the Nov. 19 treatment along with the statement: “Though I am just one week out it is evident that this surgery for me has been a life altering experience.”

“Despite being far from all of my loved ones on this Thanksgiving, I am extremely grateful. I am aware that this separation is only momentary, and that by the following Thanksgiving, not only will we all be back together, but I will also be free from pain and restrictions to prepare food, play games, and enjoy the holiday “Added she. “All the best and stay safe. Oceans of love are sent to you all.”

The following day, Gilbert provided another health update, revealing that she had flown from California, where she had surgery, to New York, where she was undergoing testing for the new coronavirus.

“Four days ago, I flew from California after receiving a negative test result three days earlier. I’m actually allowed to be in the same room as my husband if this test comes back negative! “She composed. “Continuing to keep a safe distance due to the anticipated 14-day incubation period. But I’m getting there, and I’m extremely optimistic!”

Gilbert was fortunate that the outcomes were unfavorable. “Yeeeeeehaw!!! I can travel upstate to our home. For the next ten days, we just need to exercise caution and mindfulness, and then we may go home “Sat. was the day she wrote. I’m eager to embrace my husband.

Gilbert recently told PEOPLE that she first noticed anything was amiss when she started to have “numbness and tingling in the three middle fingers on my right hand.” Gilbert had to have another surgery after a third spinal fusion in 2016 had failed.

She remarked, “I always had this sort of steady hum of, I don’t know how else to put it, the sort of low hum of ache. “There was only pain. My entire neck would occasionally just freeze up. I wouldn’t be able to lift my head up or turn my head to the right or left as it would stiffen up or flare up.”

Gilbert claimed that she has been “feeling terrific” following the operation, though.

Now that I feel so comfortable, it’s going to be all about not moving and not pushing, she continued. “I want to avoid causing any problems. I must therefore exercise extreme caution.”

Gilbert has a long history of neck and back problems as a result of 2012 injuries. After falling on Dancing with the Stars, she first sustained whiplash and a concussion, and a few months later, the balcony of a home she was renting in Studio City, California, collapsed over her head.

“I am prone to mishaps. There is no way to avoid that, “According to the actress, PEOPLE But I’ve deliberately chosen not to live my life in terror, I said.

When asked what she is most anticipating in the future, Gilbert replied she is “extremely excited” to be pain-free enough to play with her soon-to-be granddaughter.

She expressed her excitement at being able to visit them without restriction so she could cuddle her adorable grandchild and give them both hugs and kisses. “I’m a new grandmother. I get to play and wrestle. So I want to be able to achieve it to the best of my ability.”
