The Trump administration has ejected a Cuban diplomat from the United States, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said on Tuesday evening.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed the paperwork to remove the first secretary of Cuba’s delegation, Waltz said in an interview on Fox News. Waltz said the diplomat would fly to Havana within 24 hours.
The ejection followed a shouting match on the floor of the United Nations General Assembly between Waltz and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, during a session on the US economic embargo against Cuba. Waltz accused the Cuban diplomat of shoving and trying to assault an American diplomat.

A State Department spokesperson told CNN the individual had left the United States and was no longer welcome in the country. CNN reported it had reached out to the Cuban Mission to the United Nations for comment.
