Elon Musk has given at least $445.77 million to Republican-aligned political action committees and groups in the 2026 midterm cycle, according to Federal Election Commission data as of October 29. The total makes him the largest single-cycle political donor in modern US history.
About $216 million went to America PAC, the super PAC Musk founded in 2024. A further $168 million went to the Senate Leadership Fund, which backs Republican Senate candidates, and $30 million went to the Congressional Leadership Fund, its House counterpart, according to the filings.
The pace picked up sharply near the end of the race. Roughly $200 million of the total arrived in the final two months of campaigning, as the November 3 election approached. Texas drew the heaviest spending, where America PAC backed Republican Ken Paxton in a closely fought Senate contest against Democrat James Talarico.

The scale marks a turn from Musk’s own earlier position. In May 2025 he said he would scale back large political donations, after spending nearly $300 million on Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. The new filings show he instead increased his giving well past that figure.
The midterms decide control of the House and Senate for the final two years of Trump’s term. Musk’s donations, reported by CNN and The Guardian from the FEC filings, put him far ahead of every other individual donor in the cycle.
