Mayhem at theme park as visitors are left hanging upside-down on roller coaster due to power outage

Tourists hang upside down on roller coaster for more than 20 minutes because of power failure

The incident reportedly took place on June 6 at the Nandaihe amusement park in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province, China, according to local media sources.

An operating roller coaster unexpectedly derailed and halted at the highest point, leaving 11 passengers hanging upside-down in the air, according to a tourist’s video from the moment.

According to several witnesses, the park had an unexpected power interruption that left all roller coasters suspended in the air for more than 20 minutes.

Power interruptions are unusual, according to a representative of the Qinhuangdao City Culture and Tourism Bureau, and the administration of the amusement park is looking into the cause. The train could resume operating after the backup power was turned on.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the tourists’ health is stable. It’s unclear if the tourists affected by the tragedy would receive compensation.

Authorities stated that they will look into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and those accountable for the participants’ safety in the dangerous game.

The theme park is still accessible to visitors right now. Some adventure carousels, though, are now being suspended for maintenance.
