Clint Black will have surgery but will not headline a Texas concert.

The Midland Reporter-Telegram reported that Clint Black had postponed his scheduled headlining performance at the upcoming Black Gold Bash in Midland, Texas. Due to a health concern, the ’90s singer withdrew from the event.

The singer “needs to undergo a procedure on his back before his performance,” according to a spokesman for Black, and he won’t be able to perform while he recovers.

Black Gold Bash is scheduled for June 7, and Clay Walker has already been scheduled to take Black’s position as the event’s headliner. The partnership event, now in its fifth year, generates funds to assist oilfield sector families during difficult times financially or due to medical issues.

According to Country Now, Black’s medical troubles will affect a few more dates on his forthcoming 2023 Summer’s Comin’ Tour. The original June dates for four events have been changed. The new dates for those performances—in Overland Park, Kansas; Catoosa, Oklahoma; Round Rock, Texas; and Fort Worth, Texas—are Oct. 27, Dec. 28, Aug. 4, and Aug. 5, respectively.

In addition, Black’s scheduled June 16 event in Abilene, Texas, has been canceled.

According to Black’s website, the 2023 Summer’s Comin’ Tour will begin on June 24 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In the interim, the singer is still hosting an all-star lineup of musicians on his Circle Network program, Talking in Circles With Clint Black.
