Hi, what are you looking for?

Dolly Parton, 77, says age “shouldn’t matter” as she discusses aging.

Regarding country music royalty, Dolly Parton is, without a doubt, one of the most recognizable names. Parton has been a tremendous effect on the music business for decades with successes such as “Jolene,” “9 to 5”, and “Coat of Many Colors.”

She is known for her exquisite songwriting talents and unique singing voice. She also penned and originally recorded “I Will Always Love You” in 1973 before it was later made famous by vocal powerhouse Whitney Houston in 1992.

Parton has become one of Hollywood’s most beloved entertainers thanks to her colorful, cheerful personality, distinctive singing tone, and excellent songwriting abilities. Even more lovely than her voice and lyrics is the reality that Parton uses her platform to help others by donating and volunteering.

One of the causes for her compassionate heart could be her impoverished beginnings. The “Jolene” singer grew up as one of 12 children in a poor Tennessee family, and her journey to stardom is one that draws an outpouring of love and admiration. Parton’s musical abilities were recognized early on, and she began creating her songs. Parton traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, after graduating from high school in 1964, to pursue a career as a singer.

Despite her legendary stature as an entertainer, Parton has been unable to avoid the topic of aging, which is a hot topic in the entertainment world.

Parton, 77, spoke briefly with Insider about her ideas on aging and how she manages to overcome the challenges that come with the average human process.

Parton spends much time in the spotlight as a country superstar, which comes with much criticism. Much of it, as with most women in entertainment, is about her appearance. She addressed the topic on the WorkLife with Adam Grant podcast, saying:

“The biggest advice people wanted to give me was to improve my appearance – to simplify my hair and how I dress. They would tell me not to look so cheap because no one would ever take me seriously.”

She went on to say:

“The way I appear now and look then was a country girl’s version of glam… Others wanted me to change because they thought I was cheap. But I modeled my appearance after the town tramp. ‘She’s trash,’ said everyone. And I thought to myself as a little girl, ‘Well, that’s what I’m going to be when I grow up.’ It was exactly the look I was going for.”

She believed she “wasn’t a natural beauty,” she remarked. So I want to look the way I do. I’m so outgoing on the inside that I need my appearance to reflect that.”

Parton previously admitted to Insider that some of her best work was done at 3 a.m.

“I don’t require a lot of sleep,” Parton admitted. “I go to bed quite early, but even if I’ve been up late, it’s like a little clock inside me saying, ‘It’s 3 o’clock!’ I get enough rest. I don’t need as much sleep as many other folks. That’s a Parton family trait”

Apart from waking up at 3 a.m., Parton also acknowledged that she has no “huge rituals” with her skin:

“I don’t believe you have to spend much money to have good items,” she added. “Most products that are less expensive are just as good, if not better, than those that are more expensive.”

Parton was frank about aging in another interview with Insider, while promoting her new line of baking recipes. She claimed she’d rather be her age now than any younger after seeing what young people are going through today.

“Some say wisdom comes with age, and neither the aging process nor the numbers can be stopped,” she remarked.

Nevertheless, like any other artist her age, she wishes she were younger.

“Of course, everyone wishes they could stay 35 forever, and in my mind, I do. But I can’t get into the trap of thinking, ‘I have to do this or that.’ I’m going to make every moment count in the way I live, work, and feel. “I could live to be 100 or die tomorrow, but I’ll know I died trying, and I’ll know I did everything I could to make the most of it,” she added.

Parton has a room full of trophies, recognitions, and platinum records despite her young age. Despite this, the country music legend remains unaffected, believing she is capable of much more:

“The numbers shouldn’t matter as long as I stay healthy. I don’t look my age, I don’t feel my age, I don’t work my age, I don’t think my age, and ideally, I don’t feel my age! “She remarked.
