Faith Hill chokes back tears in a touching homage following a tragic loss.

Faith Hill battled to keep her emotions in check while paying tribute to her good friend Loretta Lynn, who died on October 4th.

Faith, who paid tribute to Loretta, who died at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, was joined on stage by her husband, Tim McGraw, at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville to commemorate her remarkable life.

A star-studded audience came to mourn the late singer for CMT’s Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration of Loretta Lynn’s Life & Music.

Faith was comforted by her husband multiple times during her remarks as she fought back the tears while reminiscing about Loretta and their friendship.

“It is our honor and privilege to be here near the beginning of our dear friends,” she remarked. “And to honor this exceptional woman and her extraordinary life.

“Loretta was unapologetically honest about the difficulties and joys of being a wife and mother, a woman who loved life – loving, lying, cheating, having babies, not having babies…she sang about it all.”

Faith persisted. “She was fearless and self-assured in who she was, where she came from, and how she lived her life. She didn’t just break down barriers for women in country music; she shattered them.”

“She gave us this daring new space to create our way to dream and soar into the music we make, the jobs, and our lives. She was always nice, friendly, and helpful to all of us. Every single individual in this room has a story to tell. She was incredibly wise and witty.”

“I am pleased to have been in your company, Loretta,” Faith said, holding back tears. “I am glad for the numerous memories I have shared with you.”

“I am pleased to be a woman in country music, proud to be a mother, and proud to have had the opportunity to follow you down the artistic path you created for all of us.”
