“I’m very optimistic about his future.” “All I can ask for is to see my kids thrive and feel good in their skin,” Kate Hudson says of her 18-year-old son Ryder.
Kate Hudson is missing her oldest child, who is away at college for the first time.
The actress, 43, recently spoke about her feelings since her son Ryder, 18, departed for college.
“It’s difficult even to talk about,” she said. “I’ll have a moment where I just start crying because it will dawn on me that he isn’t here.”
“But he’s having a great time in the city; he’s all set,” she continued. “And that makes me so happy. I’m quite optimistic about his future. I can only ask to see my children thrive and feel good in their skin.”
Hudson, who shares Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson, is also the mother to son Bingham “Bing,” 11, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, and daughter Rani Rose, 4, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa, who will be four next month.
The Bride Wars actor then recounted an emotional encounter she shared with Ryder while speaking with him on the phone recently.
“He was in such a good place, and I remember a time in my life when anything was possible,” she said. “And I could see it in him, and I was so overcome that I was about to cry.”
Rani Hudson, Hudson’s daughter, politely inquired if she was sobbing “happy tears,” to which the actress nodded.
Before Ryder left for college, he and his brother Bing jammed out in their garage while their mother captured the lovely sibling moment.
“Oh, my boys!” “What more could a mother ask for than boys who simultaneously play rock and are hilarious?” Hudson wrote.
“What a great big brother,” Ryder added. “We’re going to miss you a lot #offtocollege #guessthesong”
