Willie Nelson is widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed living performers in the genre of country music, and the contributions that he and his family have made to the field have served as an inspiration to a newer generation of country music artists.
Willie Nelson is traveling the United States with the Nelson Family band despite the fact that he is 89 years old and is still alive and well.
Recently, he disclosed to the general public for the first time that earlier this year he had a very worrisome health issue that he had kept quiet until now.
Willie Nelson said in May of last year, while the band was on tour, that a member of the Willie Nelson Family Band had tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Willie Nelson decided to cancel their headlining gig at Jazz Fest.
Willie’s recent admission that he was in fact playing the role of the band member was the first time that the public learned the name of the mystery band member.
The country music legend, who was 89 years old at the time, was reportedly sleeping on his tour bus before travelling to Nashville, as reported by The New York Times. They stated that he had awoken in the middle of the night complaining of difficulty in breathing correctly. At the moment, the results of Willie’s fast PCR test came back positive for the COVID-19 virus.
The fact that he had recently turned 89 years old at the time makes the situation even more frightening because it makes him more susceptible to the complexities of the virus.
“On the bus, I had a nebulizer for my asthma. At that juncture, I began working on all that I could, including Paxlovid. The monoclonal antibodies were present in his system. He had steroids, “Willie Nelson’s wife, Anne, was the one who shared their story with the media.
When they got back to their house in Spicewood, Texas, they carried an entire medical unit with them to the ranch so that they could monitor Willie Nelson’s health and ensure that he was recovering well from the illness.
“We converted the home into a medical facility. There were a few points where I had my doubts about whether or not he was going to make it, “she went over it again.
Nelson’s return to touring began two weeks after the COVID-19 scare, with gigs in New Braunfels, Texas. It took Nelson six days to recuperate from the health scare caused by the COVID-19 virus.
“It was not easy for me to deal with at all. The COVID is certainly not anything to make light of, that much is certain “Willie quipped.
Willie Nelson and his Family Band will be one of the headlining acts for the Farm Aid 2022 Music Festival on September 24 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Other notable performers scheduled to appear at the event include John Mellencamp, Margo Price, Chris Stapleton, and Sheryl Crow.
