Paul Simon Admits He’s Lost Most of His Left Ear’s Hearing: I believed it would pass.

The 81-year-old Grammy-winning musician indicated he might stop performing due to his hearing loss.

Paul Simon disclosed that he has significant hearing loss in his left ear.

The 81-year-old Grammy-winning musician revealed the information in an interview with The Times and said he is unsure of the cause.

He told the publication, “Quite abruptly, I lost most of the hearing in my left ear, and nobody has an explanation for it. Therefore, things got more challenging. I was annoyed and frustrated by that but wasn’t exactly angry since I felt it would disappear and fix itself.”

While creating his latest album, Seven Psalms, released last week, Simon claimed to have lost his hearing. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist had hoped that his hearing would improve on its own, but it hasn’t.

Now, he claimed that the hearing loss will probably have an impact on his performances and allow him to avoid playing music he doesn’t enjoy.

Given his advanced age and the recent passing of musicians Gordon Lightfoot and Jeff Beck, Simon acknowledged that he might not be able to go on tour again.

“My generation’s time is up,” the “Graceland” singer told the publication.

Despite his hearing loss and rehabilitation from a severe case of COVID, Simon claimed he is doing well and is not yet prepared to leave.

“Boy, have I been beaten up these last couple of years,” he said. “I look fine, though, don’t I?”
