Without anti-depressants, Kelly Clarkson claims she couldn’t have survived her divorce: “I Need Your Help”

The talk show presenter referred to it as the “greatest decision ever,” adding that she “wouldn’t have made it” without the help of Lexapro.

For the first time, Kelly Clarkson acknowledged using anti-depressants to get through her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

The 41-year-old host of The Kelly Clarkson Show recounted having difficulty controlling her tears during a therapy session.

“I looked at my therapist and just couldn’t stop crying, and I was like, ‘I had to cancel some of the other days because I couldn’t stop crying.’

In the episode of Las Culturistas from iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network that aired on Wednesday, Clarkson remarked, “I cannot do this. And it was one of those situations where I had to truly swallow my ego and set aside any difficulties from my early years.”

Clarkson told Rogers, 33, and Yang, 32, “I was on Lexapro for two months, I think.” “My issue was that I could not smile for America now. I’m unhappy, and I need assistance. And that was, in God’s honest opinion, the best choice ever made. Without it, I never would have succeeded.”

Blackstock, 46, and Clarkson got married in 2013. The divorce was officially finalized in March 2022 after the “Breakaway” singer filed for divorce in 2020. River Rose, 9, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 7, are the couple’s children. Her latest album, Chemistry, is primarily inspired by their romance.

In a recent podcast interview, Clarkson claimed that her kids mainly listen to her music, so they can use profanity.

According to Clarkson, “I don’t listen to my stuff around my kids,” said podcast host Mike Adam of Audacy Check-In. “So even with my other music, I assume they were listening to it with someone else because when my daughter requested to hear “Whole Lotta Woman,” I was puzzled about how she knew the song.”

However, she truly wanted to say ‘a–.’ ‘Can I sing ‘a–?’ she asked. I responded, “Only with me.” Clarkson continued, “I was like, ‘You can’t do this anywhere else. So, they don’t jam to me, we listen to a lot of Harry Styles and Aurora,” she continued.

Before Chemistry’s release, Clarkson appeared on TODAY and discussed the “little text exchange” she had with Blackstock regarding the album.

“I don’t even remember how or why it happened, but I was like, ‘Hey, I didn’t just diminish us down to one thing,’” she recalled. “Do you understand what I’m saying? The ride includes everything. There is also beauty there. There is a lot of pain right now, but everyone has pain.”

“It’s incredibly intimate. And I’ve always released personal songs; I believe everyone knows my overall reputation as that kind of writer. I believe that having children — and that you both have children — causes you to kind of question, ‘What am I going to do here?’” As a result, I was quite picky about the tracks I chose for the album.”
