Christina Applegate told listeners on Tuesday that a doctor recently told her she does not have multiple sclerosis, five years after she went public with the diagnosis. She made the tearful revelation on the return episode of her podcast MeSsy, after seven months away from the microphone for health reasons.
“She came into my room and said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS,’” Applegate recalled, according to People magazine. “I was, like, not happy at all. Everybody else was so happy.”

The 54-year-old actress said the news brought no relief. Her symptoms have not gone anywhere, and she still does not know what is causing them. “You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better,” she said. “I haven’t gotten better, Jamie! If anything, I’ve gotten worse.”
Applegate, who starred in Dead to Me and Married… with Children, disclosed her original diagnosis in 2021. She said her doctors will now investigate what has been happening since 2021 and why the misdiagnosis occurred. She hosts MeSsy with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also lives with MS.
