Criminal Minds: Evolution will end with its 20th season, Paramount+ announced on October 30. The final season will air in 2027, closing a run that began on CBS in 2005.
The original series ran for 15 seasons on CBS before moving to Paramount+ in 2022 as Evolution. Season 20 will be the fifth season of the revival. Showrunner Erica Messer said in a statement: “We’re looking forward to sharing Season 20 with everyone, and celebrating the legacy of this special show we’ve all built together.”
Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, RJ Hatanaka, Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster are all set to return, according to TheWrap. Zach Gilford will not return after season 19 ended with his character, Elias Voit, in prison.
Deadline reported that season 20 had already finished filming before the decision to end the series, so its finale was not made as a planned farewell. All 19 seasons released so far are streaming on Paramount+ ahead of the final season.
