Blumhouse and Atomic Monster Rename Merged Company Blumhouse Atomic

1 min read

Horror studios Blumhouse and Atomic Monster have a new name for their combined company: Blumhouse Atomic. Founders Jason Blum and James Wan unveiled the name on Tuesday, two years after the two studios merged in 2024.

The rebrand covers the corporate company only. Blumhouse and Atomic Monster will keep operating as separate production labels, each with its own creative team making films and television shows.

Blum said in a statement that the merger had worked out as the two companies hoped. “Blumhouse Atomic is a natural evolution of what we’ve built together,” he said, adding that the company has “the output of a studio with the creative freedom and financial discipline of an independent company”.

The numbers behind the name change are striking. Since the merger, the combined company’s films have earned more than $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office against production budgets of less than $330 million, according to the company.

The 2027 slate includes River, The Revenge of La Llorona, The Exorcist: Martyrs, a new Paranormal Activity film and a Blair Witch Project title. The company is also developing the return of the Saw franchise to the big screen.
