Netflix is going back to the Upside Down. The streamer announced on Friday that it has ordered Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, a live-action prequel set to premiere in 2028.
The series takes place in 1955, in the fictional town of Marion, Nevada. It predates both the original Stranger Things and the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow.
Longtime Stranger Things writer Kate Trefry co-created the show with Matt and Ross Duffer and will serve as showrunner. Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes, and production will take place in New Mexico.
Netflix timed the announcement to Stranger Things Day, November 6, the date Will Byers went missing in the show’s first season. The company also released a teaser trailer. No cast has been announced yet.
