Charli XCX is joining the cast of Martin Scorsese’s new film “What Happens at Night,” according to Variety.
The pop star will make a cameo in the gothic horror film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence as a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby. After checking into an eerie hotel, they encounter a cast of strange characters and start questioning the life they built together, according to the film’s synopsis.
The cast also includes Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Jared Harris, according to Variety. The film adapts Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel of the same name, with a script by Patrick Marber. Apple Studios is producing the feature in collaboration with StudioCanal.

It is Scorsese’s first feature since 2023’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which also starred DiCaprio and went on to earn 10 Academy Award nominations.
The role is the latest step in Charli’s run as an actress. She starred in, co-wrote, and co-produced this year’s mockumentary “The Moment,” and has appeared in “I Want Your Sex,” “The Gallerist,” and “Faces of Death.” Earlier this year she put Scorsese on the cover of her album “Music, Fashion, Film” alongside John Cale and Marc Jacobs.
