Christiane Amanpour, CNN’s chief international anchor, announced on Monday that she will leave the network in June 2027, ending a 43-year run.
“After many months of thought and a few sleepless nights, I have decided to separate from CNN, my partner of 43 fantastic years!” she said in a statement.
Her daily shows on CNN and PBS will end in December. She will then host a weekly CNN program through May 2027 and stay on through June to help with the transition, the network said.

Amanpour, 68, joined CNN in 1983 as a news desk assistant in Atlanta. Her first major assignment was covering the first Gulf War, and she went on to report from conflict zones in Bosnia, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Iran, according to CNN. Her interview program has aired on CNN International since 2009.
CNN chairman Mark Thompson told staff he had discussed the decision with Amanpour for months and called her “one of the most trusted and beloved journalists anywhere.” The network will take time to celebrate her before she departs, he said.
The announcement comes weeks after Paramount Skydance completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, placing CNN and CBS News under the same corporate umbrella, according to Reuters.
