Harry Styles debuted a new unreleased song on Friday night at Madison Square Garden, a track he said he wrote for his late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. The performance fell on the second anniversary of Payne’s death.
Styles told the New York crowd he felt “incredibly lucky” to play the venue, then grew serious. “Two years ago today, I lost one of those friends,” he said, before urging fans to “look after each other.”
He then introduced “What Is Enough,” a song he said he wrote for his friend about two years ago, and performed it live for the first time.

Payne died on 16 October 2024 at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. He rose to fame alongside Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik after One Direction formed on The X Factor in 2010.
The tribute came during Styles’ record 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden, part of his Together, Together world tour.
