Alaska Democratic Senate candidate Mary Peltola has postponed two campaign stops after she and her family suffered minor injuries in a car crash on Saturday evening, her campaign announced on Sunday.
Peltola and her family were travelling to the Alaska Federation of Natives Annual Banquet when another driver struck the vehicle carrying them, according to the campaign. The crash caused injuries that required medical treatment.
“Mary and her family sustained minor injuries but are in good spirits,” campaign manager Cheryl Bruce said in a statement.
On medical advice, Peltola will reschedule stops in Fairbanks and Bethel that had been planned for Sunday and Monday, Bruce said. The campaign said the events will move to later in the week while Peltola recovers.

The postponements delay the opening days of Peltola’s “Alaska Always Tour,” an eight-stop swing through the state in the final week before the November 3 election. The campaign said Peltola plans to return to the trail on Tuesday with a rally in Homer, and that other dates will continue as scheduled.
Peltola, a former congresswoman, is challenging Republican Senator Dan Sullivan in a race rated as one of the closest Senate contests in the country.
