Susan Saint James, the Emmy-winning actress known for Kate & Allie and McMillan & Wife, died on Monday at 80. Her representative confirmed to People that she died after a battle with pancreatic cancer, and her family announced the death on Tuesday.
Saint James won an Emmy in 1969 for her supporting role as Peggy Maxwell on The Name of the Game. She went on to play Sally McMillan opposite Rock Hudson on McMillan & Wife for five seasons, then starred alongside Jane Curtin as Kate McArdle on the CBS sitcom Kate & Allie from 1984 to 1989.

Her family remembered her as generous with her time and energy, and said she taught her children to slow down, be kind and look out for other people. She largely stepped back from acting after Kate & Allie ended, and she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2008.
She is survived by her husband, former NBC Sports chief Dick Ebersol, four children, seven grandchildren, her sister and her service dog, according to the family statement.
