Harry Styles closed in on the end of his Madison Square Garden residency on Friday night by recreating the audition that started his career, right down to the outfit and the line that made him famous.
Styles has been playing the New York arena since August 26, 2026, and Friday’s show was his penultimate performance there. He closes the run on Saturday night with his “Harryween” performance.
He got into the Halloween spirit early, coming out dressed as Elvis in a white jumpsuit and cape. Later in the show he changed into brown slacks, a white T-shirt, a gray cardigan and a scarf, with a number sticker on his stomach. The outfit matched what he wore for his 2010 audition on the television series X-Factor.

Styles was 16 when he auditioned in front of a panel that included Simon Cowell. He sang Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” and Cowell later placed him into One Direction, launching his pop career. On Friday, Styles sang the song again.
He also repeated his now-famous audition line, “I work in a bakery,” to cheers from the crowd.
