Jimmy Kimmel mocked President Donald Trump’s speech at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on his late-night show, dubbing it the president’s “Pettysburg Address.”
Trump unveiled the results of a $14 million renovation of the pool on Monday, in what was expected to be his final public appearance before midterm voting, according to The Guardian. During the speech he called the pool “a massive piece of pool” and said there had never been anything like it when viewed from the side.
Kimmel picked up the line on Jimmy Kimmel Live, joking that the president might receive a Nobel “piece of pool” prize. He said many people were calling the speech the “Pettysburg Address.”
Kimmel also joked that Trump blamed Joe Biden and Barack Obama for problems with the pool, ranted about Bermuda grass and topsoil, and mused about renaming the pool after himself, according to Soap Central’s account of the monologue.
The speech came on the eve of the November 3 midterm elections, which will decide control of Congress.
